GHOSTS HISTORY

The origins of the Campbelltown Ghosts Baseball Club trace back to 1956 with the formation of the Campbelltown Colonials Baseball Club as the first community baseball organisation of the Macarthur region.

The Club’s story over the almost 70 years since has been rich and filled with both team and individual success. Follow the links below to read more about our baseball story.

The Story Begins: The Campbelltown Colonials 1956-74

The Next Chapter: Campbelltown Ghosts 1974-2000

Years of Progress: 2000-19

Challenge and Continuity: Since 2020

During July 2020, a project commenced to document the history of baseball in Campbelltown. The first part of this work focussed upon the period between 1956-74 when the Club was known as 'the Colonials' and played in the Cumberland Baseball Association centred on Lidcombe.

This first phase of the project came to fruition when, in October 2022, the launch of Grist Mills: The Story of Campbelltown Baseball 1956-74 by former player and member, Jeff Hunter, was held at Glenalvon House, Campbelltown by the Campbelltown & Airds Historical Society

The publication can be ordered for $10.20 (postage included) by emailing CAHS, with all proceeds going to the Historical Society. You will receive an acknowledgement of your order along with a reference and bank details through which to make your payment.

Jeff is continuing to compile an online resource not just about Colonials / Ghosts history but also the various Leagues with which the Club has been associated, and other Clubs which are or have taken part. You can access this below.
