The start of the new century was mostly 'business as usual' for the Campbelltown Ghosts Baseball Club. By the end of the first decade, however, a growing player base and new demands which went with it meant progress was needed to keep pace.
The first major development took place during 2010 when time was finally called on the faithful service of the old weatherboard house at Woodlands. It was demolished by Campbelltown City Council and replaced with a brand new building and car park.
The new building, which featured a purpose-built canteen area and change rooms, was then itself extended at the eastern end during 2016 by around a third of its size.
Multiple male and female amenities as well as a new grounds storage area resulted from the upgrade, allowing for the old amenities block and storage to be demolished. This left Woodlands with the most up-to-date Club building in the Macarthur Baseball League (MBL).
The latter half of the 2010s saw much effort put into achieving grants from State and Federal Government programs in order to maintain Woodlands' position as the premier baseball facility in the region.
Success was achieved in 2017 with an $87000 grant secured for the installation of an automated irrigation system on the 'top' fields.
Other contributions resulted in improvements around the complex including the installation of upgraded fencing on the top diamonds and the installation of bullpen warm-up areas.
Coming into the last years of the decade, the Club was regularly enjoying success on the diamonds. Multiple Summer titles were collected by Seniors teams, with many others across the Club making regular finals appearances.
Club Juniors were also making an impact with multiple selections into the MBL representative sides, and the progression of some to higher levels of representation at State and National championships.
As 2020 approached, the Club's player numbers, financial position and facilities were all strong, ideal given the unknown challenges which lay ahead.
